The growth or decline in total jobs, shown as a percentage gain or loss from the previous year.
Why is this important?
Job growth is a key indicator of economic health and vitality and reveals whether and by how much an economy is expanding.
How is Orange County performing?
Total jobs grew 2.3% in Orange County from 2014 to 2015, an increase greater than both Ulster and Dutchess counties, the state (excluding NYC), and the nation. Similar to the region, Orange has had fluctuating growth rates since 2000, ranging from a high of 2.6% to a low of -1.5%, however it is the only county that has had consistent growth every year since 2010.
