The growth or decline in total jobs, shown as a percentage gain or loss from the previous year.
Why is this important?
Job growth is a key indicator of economic health and vitality and reveals whether and by how much an economy is expanding.
How is Ulster County performing?
Total jobs increased 1.6% in Ulster County from 2014 to 2015, greater than the state (excluding NYC) and Dutchess increases of 1.3% and 1.4%, respectively, but less than gains in Orange County (2.3%) and the nation overall (2.2%). Similar to the other regional counties, Ulster has had fluctuating growth rates since 2000, ranging from a high of 2.7% to a low of -2.3%, however has shown consistent growth each year since 2012.
